Gibney’s Tavern opens in West Cobb


Carrie Morey has decided to close her Virginia-Highland biscuit factory Callie’s Hot Cookie after seven years, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Morey cited rising costs to operate a restaurant since the pandemic began in 2020. Callie’s started in 2005 in Charleston, South Carolina, and two Charleston locations will remain open.


Atlanta native Sam Davis has been named executive chef of Gardening and shooting club at the Atlanta Battery.

Davis, who completed the culinary arts program at the Art Institute of Atlanta, worked in the kitchens of several local restaurants, including Revival, Atlas, Gunshow and Lazy Betty.

Davis said he incorporates his African culinary heritage and his family’s Virginia agricultural roots into his style of cooking, including new dishes he develops for the Garden & Gun menu.

These new options include reimagined shrimp and grits with creole coconut sauce and a fried cauliflower appetizer served with chermoula sauce.

Garden & Gun Club, an affiliate of the Southern lifestyle magazine of the same name, opened in 2018.


Restaurateur Vanetta Roy, who owns a restaurant called Surf’s Up in Chicago, plans to open eat my cookies at 2881 Main St. in East Point in November, What Now Atlanta is reporting. The brunch and breakfast menu will feature items including cookies, donuts and fried crab.


Atlanta Restaurant Thai 26 is set to open its fourth location this fall at Perimeter Mall, in a space that previously housed Varasano’s Pizzeria and Max’s Coal Oven, Tomorrow’s news reports today. Niki Pattharakositkul opened the first Thai 26 in Lindbergh in 2016, with subsequent locations in Midtown and Brookhaven and mini food hall Ph’east in Battery Atlanta.


Eat smashinga take-out restaurant serving Southern Caribbean cuisine, set to open this summer at 2612 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW in Atlanta’s Center Hill neighborhood, What Now Atlanta is reporting.


Based in California Ramen bar slurpin’ is scheduled to open a location at 11770 Haynes Bridge Road in Alpharetta, What Now Atlanta is reporting.


Sports bar themed restaurant Bubba’s 33 slated to open in August at the Exchange at Gwinnett development in Buford, Tomorrow’s news reports today. The restaurant comes from the same team that owns the Texas Roadhouse chain.


Colony Square taco stand Nice little tacos will expand this summer with a stand-alone restaurant at 45 Moreland Ave. in Reynoldstown, Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. Caribbean restaurant Wylie & Rum is also set to open in the 45 Moreland development this year, joining Neighborhood Wraps and Smoothies.
