Chaia Tacos Appoints Allan Ng Chief Operating Officer and Launches

Growing taco chain — and Nation’s Restaurant News 2022 Breakout Brand — Chaia Tacos has decided to bring a new executive to the C-suite. The fast-food chain has named Allan Ng its chief operating officer.

Ng joins the Washington, D.C.-based three-unit chain from Shake Shack, where he spent a decade as director of the Mid-Atlantic region. Before that, he worked at PF Chang’s.

“The hospitality quotient that Allan brings to the role of COO – a combination of deep industry knowledge and an innate ability to foster shared belonging among team members – is extremely rare,” said Chaia co-founder Bettina Stern said in a statement. “At Chaia, we have always worked to build a brand that is inclusive to inspire change. Allan’s decision to join our fast-growing and forward-thinking concept of a well-known name for its burgers is indicative that, in in addition to possessing the technical and soft skills we were looking for, he shares our passion and our vision of what is possible.”

Stern and his partner Suzanne Simon will continue in their audience-facing executive roles, according to the company.

“Bettina and Suzanne’s vision for plant-based eating, along with their focus on building community rather than just acquiring customers, is the why and how of Chaia and its success. Their incredible passion is what drew me to Chaia, and it is the potential of what lies ahead that has made this an unmissable opportunity,” Ng said in a statement. “From day one, I will work hand in hand. hand with the entire Chaia family to develop their track record of success. Specifically, we will work to strengthen our operating systems in preparation for growth strategies while building our test bed to help lead future locations. A goal doesn’t have to be complicated to be ambitious, and I look forward to bringing Farm to Taco to neighborhoods and families across the country. »

Chaia has also created an advisory board that includes Paul Westra, managing director of restaurant investments at Capital One, where the sector’s portfolio has more than doubled since joining in 2018. Previously, Westra was chief financial officer of iPic Entertainment.

“I am proud to join Chaia’s Board of Directors. What Suzanne and Bettina have already accomplished for the brand – from concept to cult favorite to evolving success story – is indicative of the continued success to come. They built the runway for Chaia to take off, and I look forward to providing guidance as they grow the business and continue to realize their vision,” said Westra. “With a visionary like Allan at the helm of Chaia’s operations, the company is uniquely positioned to achieve its next level of growth.”

Westra’s appointment officially launches Chaia’s advisory board, which also includes Simon and Stern.
