Bojangles Inc. has named restaurant veteran David Whitaker as chief operating officer, the company announced Monday.
The Charlotte, North Carolina-based quick service chain said Whitaker will oversee operations for the company and the franchise.
Whitaker, left, will join the company on May 2, succeeding Brian Unger, who will retire. Unger joined the company in 2019.
“I can’t say enough about Brian’s contributions to Bojangles,” Bojangles CEO Jose Armario said in a statement. “He represents the best in our industry and has helped navigate our business over the past few years with exceptional leadership and dedication.”
Whitaker brings more than 35 years of experience as a strategic operator and systems implementation expert for foodservice companies such as Bloomin’ Brands Inc., The Wendy’s Co. and Arby’s.
Prior to Bojangles, Whitaker spent seven years at Inspire Brands, most recently as senior vice president of Arby’s largest division, supporting 300 corporate locations and over 1,000 franchised units in the Southeast. and the northwest.
“His leadership experience, deep operational knowledge and successful track record of working with franchisees are all great assets to our team and the Bojangles brand,” said Armario.
